Playgrounds

Romping around, swinging, sliding, climbing, skateboarding, hiding, and much more - Potsdam's playgrounds offer a lot of possibilities for games, sports, and fun. From the toddler to the young adult - everyone can find his or her own favorite place. The possibilities range from the simple sand box with seesaws and swings, to breathtaking climbing facilities and a giant slide. Courts for basketball and volleyball are available, as well as fields for football and skating facilities. There are more than 100 public playgrounds in our city with a number of them found in each of the residential quarters of Potsdam. The majority of them, 26, are in Potsdam-South, followed by Stern/Drewitz and the western suburbs, each with approximately 20. Seventeen public playgrounds are in Babelsberg, and there are 15 in the city center.

More playgrounds can be found in the leisure facilities for children and youth, such as in the BUGA park (park of the National Horticulture Show). Sports and playing fields are dotted around the entire grounds of the Bornstedter Feld. Among the most popular places to go during the summer months is the pool playground, with a water area of some 60 x 15 meters, along with sandy beaches, "pirate boats," and "fishing nets" for climbers. The skater's jumping course with mini ramps, halfpipes, and a four-meter-high funwall has its fans, as well as the nature playground, which offers thrilling climbing opportunities.
