The Potsdam Museum has three facilities for exhibits located in the city besides the main building in the Benkertstraße street. In the memorial "Lindenstraße 54 - former GDR state security prison," the building's cell wing and the prison yard with open access cells can be viewed. A documentary on the history of political justice will be on display in the lobby. During the Second World War, the building was used as a political prison. After the war, the building was utilized by the Soviet KGB secret service agency and by the East German state security apparatus in 1952.
In the building of the Bundesvermögensamt (Federal Property Office) a permanent exhibit was mounted about the Glienicker Brücke bridge. The visitor can learn everything about the varied history of that bridge through display diagrams and individual items in the lobby. The exhibit "Potsdam and the 20th of July 1944" memorializes the "Uprising of Conscience." Opposition and resistance began in 1933, but the whole world learned about the resistance movement within Germany because of the failed assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944.
