The Theodor Fontane Archive is an academic institution of the State of Brandenburg. The focus of its activities, as an archive for literature, is the personality and the writings of the author Theodor Fontane (1819-1898).
The archive's task is to collect manuscripts, literature, and other media concerning Fontane and his era, develop them, and make them available to the public, as well as to researchers by means of its reference library, publications, and events. In addition, the archive carries out basic research, initiates, and supports research projects in literature, and provides assistance for the release of new editions of Fontane's works.
Twice a year, the Fontane Blätter (the Fontane leaves) is released as a joint publication of the Theodor Fontane Archive and the Theodor Fontane Society e. V. The archive has sections dedicated to the publication of the Great Brandenburg Fontane Edition and for the personal bibliography of Theodor Fontane.
