Special schools in Potsdam

Handicapped children and teens receive special support in Potsdam. Both handicapped and physically-able children attend intermediate schools together, and there are also seven special schools serving Potsdam students. Two of these are general education special schools for children who need additional support because of a learning-disability, and there are also schools especially for children with behavioral problems, impaired hearing, speech problems, and mentally or physically-handicapped children.

The Oberlinhaus, which was founded in 1874 is known far beyond the Potsdam city limits and is a welfare and social institution for children, the elderly, people suffering illnesses, and the handicapped. The Oberlin school is a special school which provides space for living, learning, and other activities for handicapped children, as well as (partially) blind and deaf children.
