The central thesis of the Research Institute for Bio-active Polymer Systems (Biopos) is "oil is yesterday." Bio-refinery and green bio-refinery are its central themes, bio-active polymer systems are its special interest, and work and products in the field of bio-organic synthesis, affinitive carrier materials, and polyelectrolyte complexes are its know-how.
The aim of the work at Biopos is that research results are transformed more rapidly into industrial production. New materials are to be developed on the basis of high-molecular natural substances for use in the fields of agriculture, nutrition, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, environmental protection, and medicine.
The extensive development of products based on environmentally-friendly natural materials is of major importance for the researchers, in order to reduce the use of synthetic materials which are harmful to the environment.
