The fabrik Potsdam was founded shortly after the re-unification of Germany by an artist's collective in an abandoned brewery in the centre of Potsdam as an experimental stage for dance, theatre, and music.
Since then, the fabrik Potsdam has gained recognition as a theater for contemporary dance. fabrik Potsdam simultaneously maintains a stage for its regular program, production facilities for its own plays, and a location where training and exchange regarding contemporary dance can take place. The highpoint of the program is the Potsdam Tanztage - the Potsdam Days of Dance - which is an annual international festival for contemporary dance.
