Village Church Eiche

The Village Church of Eiche was consecrated in its current form on October 31, 1771. It was built under the direction and significant influence of Frederick the Great by Georg Christian Unger, inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. In 1999, the church was equipped with a tower, the silver-tipped spire of which, shot down by the advancing Soviet army in 1945, now rises 33 meters into the sky.

Opposite the tower lies an extension building, added in 1882 by Emil Gette in the architectural style of the original structure. The small organ, built by Wilhelm Sauer from Frankfurt/Oder, dates from 1882. At the suggestion of Crown Princess Victoria, the organ pipes were adorned with colorful ornaments. Noteworthy are a bronze bell from around 1500 and a depiction of the Last Supper on the altar, which was modeled after Leonardo da Vinci's famous work by the Rhineland portrait painter Egidius Mengelberg.

Gothic Library

Idyllically located on the southern shore of the Heiliger See, the Gothic Library - built in the late 18th century - long served as a library. Today, the Gothic Library is once again a true architectural highlight. From the tower’s arcaded gallery, visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of the Heiliger See and the Marble Palace

Glienicke Bridge

The Glienicke Bridge spans the Havel River between Jungfernsee and Glienicker Lake and is considered one of the most historically significant road connections between Potsdam and Berlin. The view from the Glienicke Bridge is unparalleled. From here, one can see Potsdam’s Babelsberg Palace and Park, the Heilandskirche in Sacrow, Schloss Glienicke, and the garden landscapes designed by Lenné.
