The Nuthe is a tributary of the Havel River. It flows from the north through the municipality of Nuthetal and then continues between the southern part of Potsdam and the district of Drewitz, passing through the Nuthewiesen—a meadow and floodplain landscape named after the river. From there, it winds its way between the districts of Babelsberg South and Schlaatz, as well as through the Teltower Vorstadt (a historic suburb named after the nearby town of Teltow) and the eastern part of Potsdam’s city center, before emptying into the Havel River directly across from Friendship Island (Freundschaftsinsel), a small, centrally located park island in the Havel.
