The Havel Canal is a federal waterway, constructed between 1951 and 1953 to provide a bypass around the then West Berlin. It branches off from the Havel-Oder Waterway at Niederneuendorf and flows into the Sacrow-Paretz Canal near Paretz (part of the Lower Havel Waterway).
