Havel - Alte Fahrt

The riverside promenade opposite Friendship Island stretches between the Lange Brücke (Long Bridge) and the Heilig-Geist-Spital (Holy Spirit Hospital). Along the restored quay wall, visitors can stroll from the Alte Markt (Old Market), passing flower and perennial beds, across the new bridge to Friendship Island or continue on to Große Fischerstraße.

The waterfront side of the former Burgstraßenviertel on the northern bank of the Alte Fahrt was, prior to wartime destruction, densely built with small-scale commercial buildings and inner courtyards, and was not publicly accessible. In the 1970s, this area was transformed into what is now the Uferpark (Riverside Park).
